I just sold the "Project Scrap Value" Ranger.
After a lot of evaluation I figured going forward with all of my planned upgrades would have killed me. Physically, financially and in resale.
I felt bad seeing it go, it was a really good little rig.
But, I took a tidy 40% ROI. So I dont feel too bad.
Now..
Option 1 is a 1995 Land Rover with faded red paint and it's stuck in park.
Option 2 is a 1983 Jeep Grand Waggy from Arizona with a trashed interior and tune up work needed.
Option 3 is a 2002 Exploder that may need an engine.
I'm leaning towards the Explorer as I know I can turn a buck on it pretty quickly. But the other two seem like they could be a ton of fun..
Whaddaya think?

I think your best bet is the Jeep. It's got a built in audience and unless you just go completely crazy, you should at least get back what you put into it...parts value anyway.

I say flip the Exploder (figuratively), and use the new-found money on the Waggy.

Oh man, if I found a short bed F150 from that gen I'd be all over a 1g Lightning clone.
Sadly, I'm in the rust belt.

It's funny with Jeeps. The last one I had, 79 Cherokee Chief shipped to Illinois from Cali, was an impossible sale. And I took a big hit on it.
The Waggy may be different though. A different type of buyer at least.

Now that's not half a bad idea!
I think I can pick the Explorer up for around $800, a used 4.0 for $600.. It'd be tight.

I wish I had the skills/room/tools to flip cars like that. I had a roommate hydrolock his Cavalier. He ended up selling it for something like $500, when he easily could have gotten $3-4k had it been running.

Wagoneer or Explorer. Who knows what's up with the tranny in the Land Rover. Then again, I don't know much about the Land Rover mechanicals to know whether it's worth the risk.

I did that once. Believe it or not you have to watch rust there too.
Shipping is out of the budget for now though.

The skill comes with tools and age. Space is another story.

A quick search, oddly Doug DeMuro popped up too, shows it to either be a bad clip in the shifter or a bad brake light switch.
I'm shying away from the Rover because I've always wanted one. I'd be too tempted to keep it.

I swear the 4x4 sticker of the side of the bed is from a late 90s GM K1500.
